Points Inquiry

While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information displayed, WPCSA assumes no liability to anyone for errors or omissions in the tabulations of points.  We strongly recommend you keep track of your own points and check your points against the posted points.  Remember a Gold or Platinum show can be demoted to the rating a step below it if the proper number of entrants is not met (Gold must have 40 ponies and Platinum must have 100 ponies).  WPCSA does perform a hard audit towards the end of the show season.  Prior to the audit points may be incorrect due to a show incorrectly submitting results.  An e-mail is always sent out to all members reminding them to verify their points before the season is locked for the year.  Once the season is locked NO corrections will be made.  Errors must be corrected before the lock date.  Please remember if you unsubscribe to the WPCSA e-mails you will NOT get this reminder.  Please read below to learn how points are tabulated and some of the frequently asked questions regarding points.

Gold shows carry a triple rating of points (meaning you triple the points listed above).
Note:  There must be a minimum of 40 ponies entered at the show to earn a Gold rating regardless of the shows provisional status.
Platinum shows (can only be a Regional or National show) carry a quadruple rating of points (meaning you quadruple the points listed above).
Note:  There must be a minimum of 100 ponies entered at the show to earn a Platinum rating regardless of the shows provisional status.

What are Bad Points?

“Bad” points are points that are not earned and will not count towards year-end awards or Lifetime Achievement Awards.

What are the common reasons for Bad Points?

  • Your Welsh or equitation rider were showing outside of your home region (these points are only “Bad” for the outside region and are still good points on a National level.)
  • The recorded owner was not listed as the owner by the Show Secretary
  • The recorded owner is not a member
  • The equitation rider is not a member
  • A stallion has been gelded and the change has not been recorded

I believe there is an issue with my points.  What do I do?

Please contact the office right away regarding any points corrections or questions via e-mail only.  E-mail: shows@welshpony.org

What are Adjustment Points?

Adjustment points – Animals in the breeding divisions that win supreme champion or reserve supreme champion (purebreds or geldings) or grand champion or reserve grand champion (Half-Welsh/Part-Breds) will receive full points for their initial breed class even if that class was not filled. In this case, the animal will receive the points for an unfilled class plus adjustment points to equal full class points.
