ROSEHAVEN TALISMAN
ROSEHAVEN TALISMAN LOM (*Sleight of Hand LOM/AOE/OD x Farnley Tenby AOE) Rosehaven Talisman is a 1999 Section B stallion by *Sleight of Hand OD and out of Farnley Tenby AOE (by Alra Amber Classic). I still remember the day that Talisman was born. Getting an embryo transfer foal on the ground is always a special event considering the difficulty and expense in doing so. He was foaled dun and was very handsome with large grey rings around his eyes, a sure sign that he would turn grey. The recipient mare was a thoroughbred and Talisman spent his first four months romping in a large field of horse mares and foals. Although he could easily run under the belly of his mother, and was much smaller than all the other foals, he didn’t think he was any different. Talisman was shown in hand the first three years of his life and as a colt, was National Reserve Champion and as a three year old, was National Champion B Stallion. He wasn’t shown again until he was seven when he was brought out by Paul and Cheryl Maye, Maye Show Ponies. He did very well in hand, winning many Supreme championships at most of the major shows in the East. He was National Champion B Stallion another two times and also received numerous year-end championships in Eastern Welsh Circuit and Maryland Pony Breeders. With his extravagant movement, I got the idea that he would do well driving. Under Paul’s expert guidance, he was taught to drive and competed successfully in Pleasure and Carriage Driving, giving him the needed performance points to receive his individual LOM.
