ROLLINGWOODS L IF I KNOW

Image 33 of 42

Rollingwoods L If I Know joined the Lemke family in a memorable way. For years we had been friends with the girls from Rollingwoods and wanted a Rollingwoods pony that was a Sleight daughter. One show, as I was once again bugging Ruth about a Sleight daughter, Joanna leads a beautiful palomino filly trotting into the show ring. I immediately turned to Ruth and asked, “What about that one?” As anyone who deals with the sisters regularly knows, Sally Ross handles Rollingwoods’ sales and Ruth told me that although she would agree to sell the pony, I would need to check with Sally Ross for details. Of course, as the quintessential horse dealer, Sally Ross wouldn’t price her until she had been measured. Duty calls, shows are hectic and we didn’t put a stick on her until the end of the day. No sooner had Sally Ross quoted a price, then Joanna come around the corner, leading the filly sporting a Supreme Champion Ribbon. Despite Sally Ross’ immediate teasing about how the price was now going to skyrocket, it didn’t and we came home from that show with our beloved Nell. Nell is kind, sweet and athletic all in the same package. She is the ideal welsh pony, both family pet and performance animal. In addition to Welsh shows, Nell has had a career on the A hunter circuit, including a trip to USEF Pony Hunter Finals and ending up 12th in the nation in the small green pony hunters in 2010. She has retired from the show ring for a while in order to begin a career as a broodmare for Sweetwater Farms. Nell has a permanent home with us forever and we look forward to loving her babies as much as we love her.
