QUAIL HOLLOW CORMAC

QUAIL HOLLOW CORMAC LOM (*Ceulan Lwcus LOM/AOE x Coffing Oaks Charisma LOM) is the first foal out of our much loved Sec. A mare, Coffing Oaks Charisma. Carrie was ridden to her LOM by my son Brandon and she had her foal, Cormac, on Brandon’s birthday. We have loved him from the minute he was born, as Brandon and I were there. Cormac was shown as a foal and did well in breeding classes and did great in in-hand trail, which was fun. After taking a break from showing for a few years, Cormac was not shown again until 2008, when he was five. Cormac did very well in the Sec. A Gelding classes, often swapping places with his ½ brother, Larken Promise Kept and winning four reserve supreme’s and two supreme ch. Gelding awards. I began riding him English and Western as well as in what was then Long Stirrup, adults. The first goal I had for him was to keep a promise to Carol and Dave Maurer to show him to 300. We began showing in April, and by May 2008, Cormac had completed the 300 points. Carol was ecstatic as Cormac completed Lwcus’ fifth leg for his sire LOM. Cormac did very well in halter, finishing the year third in Sec. A geldings, 3 & over, behind Keeper. He really likes to jump, and as he is just over 11 hands the 18” jumps are perfect for him. He finished the year with more than half the points he needed to get his LOM. I began 2009 with the goal of getting enough points for Cormac’s LOM. After missing numerous shows I didn’t think he would make it. He again did well in halter, finishing the year as reserve National Ch. 3 & over Sec. A gelding. Cormac also won some English Pleasure and Low Hunter division Championships and finished as Res. National Ch. Low Hunter. I didn’t keep close track of his points until before the last show. I then began thinking that we might accomplish our goal, as he had more points than I thought. I was pretty sure he had enough points by the time the last show ended, but I didn’t want to count on it until I had checked all of the year’s results and counted about six times. Dr. Carrie MacWhorter asked me if Cormac would be Lwcus’ third foal with an AOE for his Sire OD, joining Gaslight Chwyrlwynt, LOM, AOE, OD and Larken Promise Kept, LOM, AOE. Maybe…
