GLENCOE ROCK & ROLL
2010 Individual Legion of Merit ~ Glencoe Rock & Roll - (Glencoe Nimbus x Liseter Sing Song) Glencoe Rock & Roll, aka Rocker, has been a trustworthy and dependable mount for both of my children, Andrew and Elise. He has helped them develop their skills and evolve into the riders they have become today. For this reason I have asked Andrew and Elise what they would like to say about Rocker on this the occasion of the awarding of his Legion of Merit. Here is what they had to offer about their trusted companion: Andrew Heim says: I am so glad Rocker is our pony! Before we got Rocker he was a fox hunting pony. We got him because he is Prell's half brother and Prell (Glencoe Prelude) is the best pony a kid could want, so we knew Rocker was going to be a good pony too. We needed another pony so both Elise and I could have our own pony. Rocker was a challenge to ride at first, but the more I rode him the better he got. He has a great trot .... it even pushes you up for posting. His canter is a little bumpy but after a while I got used to that too. I have ridden Rocker in nice weather and snowy weather and have stayed on him most of the time. He doesn't like to go fast, which is perfect for me. He has helped me learn my leads at the canter and how to jump. We have been through a lot together ... he is a very good boy. He has helped my sister Elise learn how to ride too. She moved up to Rocker when we sold Prell. Elise says, "Rocker loves grass. I don't like that part because he tries to eat when I ride him on grass! Rocker is a good boy most of the time. He has taken me very far in my riding." Together, Rocker and Andrew have won champion in many classes. In 2009, they won the Walk, Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot Poles, Leading Rein and Mini Stirrup divisions. In 2010, they worked together to win the Unites States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Horse of the Year (HOTY) Award for the Welsh Pleasure Under 12.2 Hands division. They also won the Welsh In Hand class (Sec. A Gelding, Breeding) as well as the English Pleasure division for small ponies. Similarly in 2010, Rocker and Elise earned National Champion in the Leading Rein class and National Reserve Champion in both Walk/Trot and Childs First Pony. Rocker will continue to be ridden by both Andrew and Elise and he will enhance their riding ability more than they know. Thanks Rocker for being a part of our family!
