CROSSROADS CHOCOLATE CHIP
CROSSROADS CHOCOLATE CHIP LOM (*Derwen Denmark x *Parc Maureen) I always said when I grow up I want to get a Welsh cob. I guess I was grown up at the age of 54 when I purchased Crossroads Chocolate Chip, “Chippy” in 2006. I first saw Chippy at the Ohio Welsh Show and liked what I saw. John had judged her earlier that year and had advised me to check her out when he saw she was listed in the sale catalog. Who could have imagined that after one unchallenged bid I’d own my long awaited Cob. So Chippy came home to Loafers Lodge! In the spring of 2007, as a 12 year old I sent Chippy to “school”. I think she cantered all the way around for the first time at the April PC show. That season she was shown successfully in the halter and English Pleasure divisions by Margaret Gill. The spring of 2008 was heartbreaking for us when Chippy lost her much anticipated foal and was turned out that year to recuperate. The winter of 2008-09 we added western pleasure to her schooling schedule. In 2009 Emily Gill took over the showing duties and Chippy was very successful in halter as well as English and Western pleasures. Jumping is a home activity, but she sure can fly over the fences so you never know she might just be in Cob Hunter some day. Having earned her LOM we hope Chippy gives us many beautiful foals and continues to be my “grown up” pony.
